Where does the south end and the north begin? What defines and distinguishes the north?
Born in Stockport, critic and music theorist Paul Morley has always thought of himself as a Northerner. In his ambitious and compelling new book The North (And Almost Everything In It), he sets out to reimagine and capture the culture, history, landscape, poetry, film, music, places and people of the north. Come and hear him discuss everything from Wordsworth’s musings on the Lakes and Lowry’s love of bricks to The Smiths’ perfect pop songs.
