BRIGHTON MUSIC AWARDS (BMA) - NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN

Thu 9 Sep 7pm @ Terraces Bar and Grill until 10 September 2010

The BMA has been founded as a 'not for profit' initiative to celebrate Brighton music. There are, in total, nine Award Categories as set out in the Submissions section on the BMA website at www.brightonmusicawards.com. The nominations window opens formally on 1st July and artists can qualify in any one of eight categories providing they reside in the BN postcode area. Nominations are free and as simple as recommending someone and providing the relevant supporting information as set out on the BMA website.

.. ..

The nominations window closes on 1st September, at which point the BMA panel will then short list 3 names against each category which then attract formal 'BMA nominated' status. The nominations will be announced at an event at The Terrace Bar and Grill on 9th September, where after the public have a month to vote on the BMA website for their preferred choice. Each vote will involve a 50p donation to the Teenage Cancer Trust (the 50p donation covers all the categories) and the winners will be announced at a special Awards night, scheduled for early October.....

.. ..

For further information about the BMA, including potential interviews with BMA board members, please contact Noise PR.....

Soul of the City Gospel, pop and soul choir taster session

Tue 14 Sep 7.30pm @ St. Paul's CE Primary School . until 21 September 2010 £5

Soul of the City is a fun, new choir singing gospel, pop and soul.

Gone are the days when singing was at the centre of the community, bringing people together from all walks of life... we'd like to do something about that.

After a fantastic third term with over 130 singers we're pleased to announce that Soul of the City choir is once again open for new members.

There are no auditions to join the choir and it is open to all levels of experience and ability. Whether you're a complete beginner, shower singer or more established singer, this choir is for you! The choir is a great opportunity to sing, socialise and meet new people (a trip to the pub is a must after every choir practice!).

The sessions are up-beat and led by an experienced vocal tutor; you're bound to have a fantastic time.

Taster sessions for the choir will be held on:

Tuesday 14th and Tuesday 21st September, 7.30 - 9.00pm.

Venue: St. Paul's Primary School, St. Nicholas Road, Brighton. BN1 3LP (1 minute's walk from the Clock Tower / Churchill Square)

Free car park provided

Cost per session: £5

Contact: brightonmusic@hotmail.com

Website: www.soulofthecitychoir.com

The two taster session evenings will mark the start of our fourth 12-week term (we meet every Tuesday evening), which will see the choir working towards an end of term concert in December.

Everyone who signs up for the term will be given a CD containing all their parts for the term's songs so they can sing along at home (so no music reading necessary).

There are still places left for Soul of the City choir, although they are limited, so don't miss this opportunity to be part of something new and fun!

If you would like to join or try the choir please contact us at the above e-mail address to secure your place. If you can't make the above dates but are still interested in the choir, please do get in touch, as we will be running future classes and events.
