Casting Masterclass

Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd November 2014

Led by renowned Casting Director, Suzy Catliff www.suzycatliff.co.uk who tells it like it is from the Casting side of the table! Advice on headshots, CV's, approaching agents & finding work. Suzy is co-author of The Casting Handbook (pub. Routledge), a practical guide to casting - how to approach it & what it means.
What is your Casting? How to increase your casting potential

Two days of intensive casting practice and discussion, where you will work individually and together. The workshops will help to build up a portfolio of different experiences and confidence all of which will help increase your castability, confidence and creativity.

"It's the 'hands on' experience of doing real castings with the benefit of Suzy's experience and input that is so useful. i.e. being given TV and film scripts to work on and approach as if the casting is for real - to see what does and doesn't work"

How to increase your Casting Potential Day 1 - Commercials Casting & Your Look

Concentrating on the 'alchemy' of commercial castings - the day is intensely practical and interactive - concentrating on the exteriors in a relaxed and informative atmosphere. Bring along your CV and photo for analysis and constructive comment of your 'look'.

There is much onscreen time including Suzy's unique 'Who do We think You Are?' exercise followed by a real time commercial casting exercise and feedback and some helpful notes and pointers for approaching the world of commercial castings.

"I am particularly happy that we got around so many different 'types' of casting, and I think the gentle introduction followed by castings with increasing 'pressure' to prepare and know what you were doing was very useful."

How to increase your Casting Potential Day 2 - TV Casting & The Etiquette

Takes an in depth and practical look at casting for TV Dramas. A thoroughly practical days work where you will be cast in at least two different scenes, get a chance to cold read, sight read and prepare a scene in advance, be put on tape and then review your work in a supportive group environment.

"I found that the sessions were clearly differentiated so that the focus was very specific which made it easy to understand objectives and relevant advice on the day. I liked that the tone was quite casual and friendly which made it slightly less intimidating than some other workshops I have attended."

Fee:

£80.00 for one day & £150 for both days. Students already attending ACT, ACT Graduates, Equity & the unwaged: £60.00 one day & £110 for both days.

HOW TO MAKE A SHORT FILM - AN ADULT & YOUNG ADULT COURSE RAN BY BITE SIZE MOVIES

A two day,digital video film tuition class ran by Bite Size Movies.

If you want to get an immediate crash course in the making of digital video movies, right through from filming, editing and producing a final film then this is the course for you.

The course will be a group/class held at the Gathering Place Community Hall in Hollingbury and will be quite informal in approach. The course will cater for the experienced and the non experienced and will encourage group involvement and working as a small team to make short film sequences and/or mini films.

We will also be looking at story boarding, scripting and all of the necessary techniques to create a short film or sequence.

This weekend session will be taught by an experienced film maker, in which you will get to use a digital video camera, capture the results you film onto a computer and edit a short experimental sequence/film which will be agreed to by the group. You will also be able to add effects and music as well.

By the end of the two days you will have a grounding in the basics of digital video procedure and take away a playable DVD of your results as well! (if required)

There are no hidden extras or requirements for the course (though you must have a basic understanding of how to use a computer!) as everything will be supplied.

It's ideal for learning how to make short web-based reports or campaign films, or to use as a spring board for a larger project!

"...loads of helpful hints & techniques that will really improve the way we use film in the future..."

"...relaxed, informative & practical..."

"...it was tailored to meet exactly what I wanted to learn and delivered to an excellent standard. I'm confident to take my new skills away and apply them to new projects with great results..."

Bite Size Movies presents The return of the ZOMBIE FILM MAKING COURSE FOR ADULTS

SHOOT THE DEAD!!!!!

Due to the popularity of the first zombie course we are repeating the same two day course in September .

If you've ever wanted to make or be in your own zombie movie then this course from Bite Size Movies may be something you can get your teeth into.

In two days in a collaborative process, we will be improvising, scripting, story boarding and creating our own short zombie film from scratch.

Depending on the script produced we will be filming the movie using a combination of location and green screen techniques.

We will also have a professional visual make up artist for all the necessary zombie make up and gore effects. A professional acting coach and a small production crew will also be helping to bring the film alive. Zombie extras will be provided on the filming day as well if necessary.

You don't need any film or acting experience as all camera training and acting coaching will be done on the first day. All film equipment is supplied as well as a liberal spread of props.

The course would be ideal for work or family outings! Or a present for a die hard horror film fan!

THE COURSE INCLUDES:
* A brief history of Zombie films with a interactive multi-media talk.
* An afternoon with a professional acting coach
* Scripting & story boarding the short film
* Zombie make up tests and full make up with a professional make up artist
* Special visual effects
* Green screen (if necessary)
* Location filming (scouted by the team)
* All film equipment supplied
* Props (where necessary)
* Zombie extras on standby for larger scenes (if necessary)
* A DVD of the finished film
* Lots of blood & guts

We can only take a maximum of twelve people for the course so do book early to avoid disappointment.

Please note: Because of the short amount of time we have Bite Size Movies will be editing the finished footage.

The film from the first course will be posted on this site as soon as it's completed. Watch this space!

" It was an excellent couple of days and the balance was just right - friendly but also professional and attendees learnt a lot. Really enjoyed the whole process! Many thanks!" - A participant from the first zombie course

The best thing about the workshop was the tutors and the variety of subjects covered, it took you out of your comfort zone and enabled you to explore more, test yourself and discover something new.
J Clayton

An incredible feeling of fun - reminded me of the fun I used to have when acting at school, whilst at the same time bringing forth something I've missed for so long. It felt fantastic doing text work in week two. It felt like I had come home.
