Stanislavski into Shakespeare

Monday 8th to Friday 12th September 2014

This is an exciting and experimental week looking at how we might apply Stanislavski's approach to Shakespeare's texts. John Barton's view on acting Shakespeare was that 'the actor must be rooted in nature' and start with the thoughts and the meaning. This week will look at how we can use some of Stanislavski's fundamental tools to unlock those thoughts and meanings.

The Artist’s way is a course for anyone who may feel stuck creatively or who has a sense that life could feel richer and more flowing. You don’t need to see yourself as an ‘Artist.’ The Artist’s Way helps demystify the creative process by making it part of daily life.

Maybe life felt more flowing when you were younger, maybe you want encouragement to get a particular project off the ground, or maybe you’ve always feared you’re not creative.

The Artist’s Way is for everyone, whatever stage of your creative journey. –‘A Course in Discovering and Recovering Your Creative Self.’

It is a course which guides us to feel more fully alive.

In ten weekly sessions - through discussion, tasks and creative exercises – in a supportive environment - we’ll review ideas in the book (The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron – You’ll need a copy of the book to attend.)

There’ll be an opportunity to explore what might be blocking you – self doubt? perfectionism? worries about time or money? -and be guided to find what might support you. In the creative exercises in sessions, emphasis is on play and process rather than finished result.

To get the most out of the course you will need to put aside a few hours each week for reading, tasks and ‘Artist’s dates’.
